Educational Counseling Services

At “Ask Dr. Jones” Educational Formation, Strategy, & Navigation Services, we believe that selecting and utilizing a) relative assessment materials, b) strategic planning/guidance methods, and c) designing creative academic pursuits is the best collective course of action to employ, throughout the college preparation and entrance process. Our series of techniques and strategies address various phases of K-12 educational guidance counseling, as well as college and graduate preparation and admissions. Equally essential, “Ask Dr. Jones” strives to align its students with K-12 programs and higher educational institutions that offer the “right fit” for their unique needs, desires, and personal agendas.

Provisional Notice:
These lists sample various services which “Ask Dr. Jones” offers.  A “Needs Assessment Analysis” will be conducted to determine the appropriateness of services.  Thereafter, a customized individual educational package will be constructed to suit specific student/client needs.  Thus, all services may not be applicable to all students’ needs.

  • Review & develop background knowledgebase: Perform a thorough background review of  academic, standardized exam,  effort, & behavior scores, marks, percentages, & indicators, term by term and annually, if available
  • Assess transcript: Analyze student’s current and future course offerings, placements, and tracking inclinations:  Promote advanced, accelerated Math, Science, & Language courses
  • Assess objective goal setting, study & test-taking methods, and overall skill development
  • Develop a 5-year plan
  • Recommend academically & socially developmental co-curricular, summer programs, and/or internships, as well as attendance at all college fairs
  • Analyze relative standardized test administrations [PSAT, SAT, SAT 1, etc, ACT: GMAT, GRE, LSAT, MCAT, PSAT, etc.] & recommend subsequent preparation and test administrations
  • Recommend “high-touch,” tangible, & valuable career-oriented community service/intern opportunities
  • Initiate, continue, or complete resume construction
  • Initiate or continue career interest exploration & planning
  • Explore, assess, investigate, & plan probable career & postsecondary endeavors
  • Recommend various Career Interest assessments
  • Identify postsecondary major/area of study
  • Construct college interest lists that match selected major & minors
  • Review college/university 4-year, Master, and Doctorate programs: term by term
  • Assist  with the completion of college/university applications
