Bio: D. Bonnette Jones, Ph.D., MBA - Return to Top of Page
Dr. D. Bonnette Jones brings 13 years of educational/guidance counseling, strategy, and mentorship experience to her role as Program Director of Ask Dr. Jones.net.  In 1995, Dr. Jones began her career in education as a temporary teacher, then middle school drug counselor, and ended in 2008 as a High School and Adult educational/guidance counselor. During her tenure within the 4th largest school system in America, she was appointed as head counselor at an adult education center. Dr. Jones specializes in Academic, Career, College, and Post Undergraduate advisement [high school & college curriculum and examination assessment, placement, and tracking], Program Development & Delivery, and Psychosocial Guidance. Through the employment of her “tell-it-how-it-is, structured-but-nurturing” approach, and the utilization of various tools  such as “There is No Such Thing as No Homework” Study Regimen, the 5-year Student Plan, the “Energy-balanced” Circle of Life, and her “Personal Awareness/Elevation” Book List, Dr. Jones has molded, guided, and mentored her students towards multiple successes, during high school, college, graduate school, the armed forces, and beyond.  Prior to entering this school system, she was a mental health therapist for a short term and a manager within the business arena.

Dr. Jones accomplishments, skills, educational background, and training reflect a commitment to the philosophy and mission of the Ask Dr. Jones.net venture.  This mission “to guide students successfully through various educational channels, into the institution of higher education that best suits their academic strengths and personal goals,” is embedded in helping students reach their full potential scholastically, morally, and professionally.  Dr. Jones’ career, at every level, has been a promotion of the level of effective and proficient educational environment she strives to create for all students.  Her position as an educational counselor within Miami-Dade County Public Schools, the most diverse school system in America, prepared her to assume leadership as the Program Director & Head Counselor of Ask Dr. Jones.net.  Always placing students and relative stakeholders at the forefront of her priorities, she enjoys the challenges of assessing, developing, and administering programs that propel young adults to heightened levels of overall personal success. Equally notable, Dr. Jones is a graduate of Florida A & M (B.S., Business Economics-1992), St. Thomas (M.S., Educational/Guidance Counseling-1997), Lynn (Ph.D., Educational Management & Leadership-2001), and Nova Southeastern (MBA-2009) Universities. Her dissertation addressed Factors that Affect the Subject Selection of Students of African Descent.

At “Ask Dr. Jones” Educational Formation, Strategy, & Navigation Services (EFSN), our ultimate goal is to "to guide students successfully through various Educational channels, into the institution of Higher Education, that best suits their academic strengths & personal goals."  Hence, our objective as educational counselors/life coaches/mentors is to aid in the collective, on-going process of the assessment, identification, development, nurturance, and maintenance of all aspects that affect the lives of our clients: the intellectual, emotional, and the moral. Through the utilization of various techniques/strategies, Dr. Jones will produce exceedingly content, diverse, creative, socially responsible and responsive intellects: who possess good souls and a premium level of work ethic. Ultimately, we want to be the counselor, confidant, and mentor that most students need, but never experience.

At “Ask Dr. Jones” EFSN Services, we believe that the careful assessment, strategic planning & guidance, and the creative designing of academic pursuits is the best collective course of action to employ, throughout the primary, secondary, and postsecondary matriculation stages. Moreover, our series of integrative approaches address various phases of K-12 educational guidance counseling, as well as college/graduate preparation and admissions. Equally essential, “Ask Dr. Jones” strives to align its students with K-12 programs and higher educational institutions that offer the “right fit” for their unique needs, desires, and agendas.
To optimize the potential for success, "Ask Dr. Jones” EFNS Services strives to operate through a comprehensive educational counseling program, which elevates each and every student, using a holistic approach.  We address students’ unique academic, emotional, and social needs by actively participating in the mission of molding diverse, sharp, and competent minds, as we assist students with the discovery and activation of their personal power.  We strive to encourage students to cut through their commonly held, self-imposed and supported, crippling labels, excuses, and barriers, in an attempt to realize their true, more competent, efficient, and happier selves. Equally important, our desire is to help teenagers and young adults discover their unique selves, abilities, and true potential for “living” a more fulfilled, balanced, and successful life.

“Ask Dr. Jones” EFSN Services will function as a motivator/mentor association that makes a positive impact on the lives of many teenagers. Our efforts will produce bright, balanced, progressive, and accountable citizens who possess the necessary intellectual, emotional, and social skills/tools to think and act creatively, critically, effectively, and responsible. “Ask Dr. Jones” will be a highly regarded developmental entity that incorporates a holistic view of students as unique individual learners.   Ultimately, direct (primary) and indirect (secondary) stakeholders will value our clients.
